ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Austin 2025 race report

Image
From  2018 until 2024, I raced many swimrun races, and I raced all of them with Trista (or sometimes a threesome with Trista and Anna). For Swimrun Austin 2024, Trista raced with her daughter Addi, and I introduced my friend Kristi to the world of swimrun. Since then, it's been a whole different landscape for me and swimrun! 2025 saw me do one race with Trista, one race with Anna, and one race with Emily. As Austin approached, Trista was again doing the race with her daughter. Anna was taking a well-earned off-season break. And Emily was doing Austin with FuckFuckJulia (look, just don't ask). Should I reach out to Kristi to see if she was interested in racing with me again? Should I finally try out a solo race, as I'd planned to do for Colorado ? Before I'd even really had a chance to weigh my options, Sarah reached out and asked if I was still looking for a partner for Austin! To be clear, this is Sarah B. I only mention this, because swimrun is absolutely overrun wi...

ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Colorado 2025 race report

Matt and I had been wanting to take Ada to Colorado, and so were planning a tentative Fall Road Trip to Colorado. And then they announced Swimrun Colorado! It was meant to be! And then we got a second, very young puppy. Hooboy. But we decided the new kid, Grace, would be old enough/potty-trained enough by early October that we could still pull it off. This is Grace. Spoiler: We mostly did! My ride-or-die partner/fellow Adorkable, Trista, has been working all the OTILLO USA races, so she couldn't race with me. And Anna needed a break from longer races after Rockman. So I was planning to just do Colorado solo. I haven't really felt strong and capable in swimming or running for.. honestly, a few years now. And so I didn't want to reach out to someone and have our new partnership be me constantly apologizing for how slow I was and how crappy I felt. Then Emily put it out in the universe that she wanted to race Colorado, but she has been having health problems. Regular Emily is...

Goodwater Trail Marathon race report 2023

Hey, my first official new race report on my new blog. Woo. Meanwhile I'm backdating the other stuff I think I might care about (race and trip reports, mostly) to when they actually happened. Hopefully. Work in progress. Originally this trail marathon seemed like a good idea because we were signed up to do Swimrun Coastal Dunes in March, and I wanted motivation to keep my running distance up. And a fun off-season goal. AND despite living in Austin my whole life, and hearing about the Lake Georgetown loop since I've been trail running, I've never made it out there. As a bonus, the marathon is one loop, a full circumnavigation of the lake. How fun is that? Especially after the 4 summer-hot loops at the Texas Trail Festival Marathon last year. As a second bonus, Matt decided to go out with me, and do the 16 miler! We'd both be undertrained for the distances we registered for, so we figured we could spend the next days hobbling together, which is always more fun. I wasn...
